Celebrating International Women’s Day 2022

Today is International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. This year’s theme is #BreakTheBias: imagine a gender equal world; a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination; a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive; a world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Alice charity is breaking this bias daily in our own team and in the communities of Newcastle-under-Lyme and Stoke-On-Trent, building an equitable organisation rooted in inclusivity and belonging. Courage is one of our values, so we challenge everyone that we help and employ, regardless of their gender, to be the best version of themselves, supporting everyone tirelessly in this endeavour.

We employ and support many Mums at Alice charity, and the challenges facing women, especially if they are single Mums, can often seem overwhelming. We believe that the best way to encourage these truly amazing women that we meet on a daily basis to be brave, to believe that they can achieve their goals and move themselves towards their dreams, is the recipe that we have developed over the last ten years, which we adjust slightly as everyone is a bit different but always with the main ingredients of compassion, empowerment, support, kindness, belief and a sprinkling of tough love to top it off.

On a day which celebrates women all over the world and challenges us to #BreakTheBias let’s choose courage…..
