Little Kindnesses

We received a call from a lady in December 2018 who was beside herself, grieving over the loss of her mother, whilst being the main carer for her 13-year-old disabled grandson. Emotions high, as the family were going through such a traumatic, sad time, this lady had not known where to turn and how she was going to go on. Her own mum had been such a rock to the family and had been her only network of support. Going through such an emotional, she reached out to us after seeing our website. Our Family Support team quickly responded and arranged to go and visit her home. Our identified that this family would hugely benefit from our Lean In project,  offering emotional support to families who just need our unconditional love at times when life can be tough.

With Christmas approaching, our Family Support team provided Christmas gifts and a food hamper to the family, in hope to ease some of this lady’s burden. We have been supporting Nan emotionally, through all her tough times and low days, helping her through her journey of grief, whilst being the main carer for her grandson with complex needs. Caring for a child is hard enough but having to care for a child with additional needs can be more challenging and we hope that this lady knows how special and strong, we at Alice know she is. We recently dropped off some Easter Eggs for her family, and some flowers for her, in the hope of bringing a smile back on this lovely lady.

As Easter is rapidly approaching, we would love to be able to give each of Alice Charity’s families an Easter egg, but we cannot do this without your kindness. Please donate an egg or two to us at our HQ in Newcastle, call us on 01782 627017 or email us at info@alicecharity.org for more details.
